Buhari leaves Nigeria Sunday

President Muhammadu Buhari will Sunday depart Abuja for Lome, Republic of Togo, to participate in two high-level meetings. Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday. He said on arrival, the President will have an interactive session at the Nigerian embassy with the Nigerian community based in Togo. On Monday, President Buhari will attend the Joint ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit which will deliberate on common security threats to countries in West Africa and members of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) with a view to forging concerted strategies in tackling the menace of terrorism, trans-border crimes and other forms of violent extremism. It would be recalled that President Buhari had expressed support for the proposed ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit when he received the current Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo on June 29, 2018 in Katsina. Davido’s girlfriend, Chioma has reacted to reports that she abandoned her education to be with the OBO crooner. Earlier on Wednesday, the social media was agog with reports that Chioma abandoned her education in Babcock University. The report claimed that her father is unhappy with her refusal to focus on education and become a graduate before getting married. According to the viral report, Chioma is expected to have graduated since 2016 after she gained admission to study Economics in 2012. However, she is still in her third year. Responding to the reports, the Chef shared a post on her Instagram page. In her Post, Chioma advised people to keep shut if they don’t know the truth. “If you are unsure about any news, Shut up,” she wrote.

Popular singer, Davido has called for prayers over his life as he is set to release another hit music. The singer took to his Twitter page on Thursday to reveal that he has just finished recording what perhaps will be his biggest hit in his music career. Davido, while sharing the good news on his page, also begged his fans to pray for him as what is coming will change his life for real. “Keep me in your prayer I might have just recorded the biggest feature of my career that can literally change my life. “And also I finally got a release date for ‘NWA BABY’… clear your playlist!! Nigerians reacts to Yemi Alade’s comparison of self to Davido, Wizkid

Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade has sparked controversy online after she compared herself to Music superstars, Davido and Wizkid. Earlier, DAILY POST reported that Yemi had in an interview said  she is operating on the same level as Davido and Wizkid.  She was quoted as saying, “The same capacity Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same capacity Davido holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same venues, we all shut it down. “So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say Yemi shut up but that is the truth. Why don’t we go ask the promoters, the people who know the numbers?” Nigerians on social media have, however, expressed divergent opinions on the singer’s claim. American rapper and singer, Sean Combs also known as P Diddy, on Friday met with Nigerian ‘Starboy’, Wizkid. Diddy, 2017 Forbes highest earning artist, disclosed this on his Instagram page as he hinted on coming to Nigeria soon. Alongside a video shared, he was seen praising Wizkid. APC vs PDP: Oshiomhole dancing on Benue people’s graves – Ortom fires back

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has fired back at the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over his attack on him after his  defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking through Terver Akase, his Chief Press Secretary, Ortom wondered why Oshiomhole, who poured encomuims on him a few days ago at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, would now condemn him following his defection. On Friday, Oshiomhole said that the party was relieved that Ortom has left party. “I am relieved as national chairman, and I believe that the leadership of the party in Benue is also relieved that Ortom has left the party and returned to the club he belongs,” Oshiomhole tod newsmen. 13 LG chairmen dump APC in Benue, join PDP

Thirteen out of the 23 local government chairmen in Benue State have dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC). They subsequently moved to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The local government bosses also pledged their loyalty to the state governor, Samuel Ortom after a meeting with the governor on Saturday in Makurdi. Their defection comes days after Governor Ortom, announced his exit from the APC to the PDP. Ortom had said that after various consultations with his party, he was advised to look for another party, stressing that his stay in the APC had expired. In the same vein, the 13 local government chairmen have joined the wave of defections. The chairmen include: Anthony Shawon of Guma local government, Justina Sorka of Buruku local government, Mwuese Ubebe of Konshisha local government, Blessing Unogwo of Ado local government, Virginia Kpindi of Katsina-Ala local government and George Alli of Otukpo local government. The protesters, led by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, had taken their anger to the premises of MTN, DSTV and Shoprite, all in Abuja with the aim of registering their anger over the wanton killing of Nigerians in South Africa and to serve a warning for the immediate cessation of the attacks. However, as they arrived at the MTN and DSTV offices, both in Maitama District of Abuja, armed security men had taken strategic positions around the business premises, thereby preventing them from gaining access to the places and attacking either people or property. The President of Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria (AFRPN), Amb. Gani Lawal, has said that Nigerian cannot severe diplomatic ties with South Africa over xenophobic attacks. Dr Lawal, a former Nigeria Deputy Principal Representative in Algeria, said this in an interview newsmen in Abuja. Nigerian Catholic priests have appealed to the electorates to study the antecedents of candidates in less known political parties and vote for them in the 2019 general election. The priests are members of of Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN) and Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), two agencies of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). While congratulating  APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, on his victory , the clerics in a statement on Monday by Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey, Director of CCFN and Executive Secretary of JDPC, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conduct of the election. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, has reassured Federal Government’s commitment to return all stranded Nigerians from Libya. Onyeama gave the assurance when he received 491 Nigerian returnees from Libya at Port Harcourt International Airport, alongside Rivers Government officials. The minister said there were stories of exploitation and suffering by stranded Nigerians in Libya, which compelled Federal Government to act decisively. He added that “we made it clear to the Libyan Government that we want to see all Nigerians there.
